Hotel Villa Manolo is located in the Osa Peninsula on the northwest side of Corcovado National Park in Drake Bay.

You can choose between the Inter-American Highway (by San Isidro de Perez Zeledón) or by the new Costanera Highway (along the coast by Quepos and Dominical) to get to Palmar Norte. In Palmar Norte continue by the Inter-American Highway until Chacarita (gas station), take the right (south) and follow the signs to Rincón de Osa. In Rincón take the right (west) and follow the signs to Drake. It takes about 8 hours from SJ to Drake. The road from Rincón de Osa to Drake is 4x4 only, its important to know that there are a couple of rivers that have no bridges so we suggest caution when crossing, in winter season (September to November) is better to reach to Sierpe, leave the car there and take a boat.
Car from San José to Sierpe (+ boat)
You can choose between the Inter-American Highway (by San Isidro de Perez Zeledón) or by the new Costanera Highway (along the coast by Quepos and Dominical) to get to Palmar Norte. In Palmar Norte, after crossing the Térraba River Bridge turn to the right, you will pass through banana and oil palm plantations arriving at the town of Sierpe. In Sierpe go to “Don Jorge” Restaurante “la Perla del Sur”, this is the place where boats to Drake departs, and they also have parking service for $ 6 a day, and take a boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay. It takes about 5 hours from SJ to Sierpe.
Bus from San José to Sierpe (+ boat)
Near Plaza Viquez in San José, are the buses of TRACOPA (Calle 5, Avenida 18-20) that travel daily towards the South zone.
We suggest the following schedules:
Bus 5:00 am (San Jose - Palmar Norte): When you reach Palmar Norte, you can take a collective taxi $ 6 per person to Sierpe, or a special private taxi $ 20 trip. That way you can take the boat at 11:30 am ($ 15 per person boat).
Or, there are buses from Palmar Norte to Sierpe, departing from 12:00 pm till 2:30 pm (25 minutes drive), if you plan to take the boat at 3:30 pm ($ 20 per person boat).
Direct bus from San Jose - Sierpe osa: 8:30 am. (Tracopa), this arrives in time to take the boat from 3:30 pm.
If you want to take the 5:00am bus, we recommend to buy the ticket the previous day.
Then take a boat from Sierpe to Drake Bay.
There are also private shuttles between Sierpe and other destinations of Costa Rica.
In Sierpe go to “Don Jorge” Restaurante “la Perla del Sur”, this is the place where boats to Drake departs, and they also have parking service for $ 6 a day.
Boat schedule:
11:30 am $ 15 per person (we recommend contacting “Nayeli Transports - Captain Eligio”)
3:30 pm $ 20 per person.
1- ) Must pay directly to the captain in cash.
2- ) You do not need reservation, only inform that you are coming to Hotel Villa Manolo.
3- ) Recommended to be at least 20 minutes before departure of each pot.
4- ) When you reach Bahia Drake, Captain will be calling to our office for to give notice of your arrival, and we will send a car to pick you up and to bring you to our place.
5- ) To get to Drake Bay you must disembark on a beach, so you will wet your feet, and depending, your pant also. (Please remove your shoes or wear sandals).
6- ) If we are in rainy season, bring a poncho or coat, plus plastic bags to protect your backpacks in the boat.
Hours boat from Drake - Sierpe:
7:15 am $ 15 per person (we recommend contacting “Nayeli Transports - Captain Eligio”)
2:30 pm $ 20 per person
Two national airlines, Aerobell (from the Tobías Bolaños regional airport in Pavas) and SANSA (from the Juan Santamaría international airport), fly daily to Drake Bay (duration: approx 45 minutes). Upon arrival at the airstrip of Drake Bay, there will be taxi service, who work directly with flight companies, for $10 per person will bring you directly to the cabins.

IMPORTANT: Keep in mind there are no banks in Drake Bay. It is highly recommendable to bring cash (colones or dollars), since when paying with credit card usually an additional fee is charged.
